People in the village
keep telling me Chatel has a good snow record. Well here is some
evidence below. In the last weeks of 2007 we had a great snow fall that raised the excitement levels in the village and created a buzz. Talking to the locals some say that
because Chatel is just a stones throw over from Lake Geneva that when
the weather is Northwesterly, Chatel is one of the first places to get
hit and hence often has a good snow record. A ski instructor was telling
me that places higher up like Tignes can have what snow they have blown
off by the wind, whereas because Chatel is relatively lower down the winds are never
as fierce here. Add that to the fact that most of the slopes around the
valley service the Abondance Valley cows in the summer and you find that
the pasture land has less rocks and needs less snow than places higher
up. We at Sutochatel do not mind a little bit of hard work clearing the
snow away so that our guests have good access to the chalet and that is
because we want you to concentrate on your ski holiday and let us take
the hassle out. There are 19 photos for you to enjoy below that were
taken in the early part of Dec 2007.
